Paid Part-Time Supervisor Opportunity

About Us

Kirtlington Community Shop & Café is a community-owned enterprise, brought to life through the generosity and vision of local residents who purchased shares, alongside the invaluable support of sponsors and donors. Our new-build premises are currently under construction, and we are looking forward to opening our doors and becoming a cornerstone of village life. The shop and café will be run by a part-time paid supervisor working alongside a wonderful body of community volunteers. The supervisor will be supported at all times by management committee members and for the first few months in particular by our retail expert, Raj Chandegra.

The Role

We are looking for a warm, organised and enthusiastic person to take on the day-to-day running of our shop and café. Working at the heart of the community, you will lead and support a team of dedicated volunteers, ensuring that every customer receives a friendly, welcoming experience.

The role will include:

  • Opening and/or closing the shop and café and overseeing daily operations

  • Leading, motivating and coordinating volunteer staff to deliver excellent customer service and to feel valued in their role

  • Operating the till, handling cash, and reconciling daily takings

  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness throughout the premises

  • Preparing and serving simple café items such as hot drinks, snacks and light refreshments

  • Monitoring and managing product displays, pricing, and date rotation

  • Building relationships with local suppliers and community members

  • Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, identify fast and slow sellers and contribute ideas to improve sales and profitability.

  • Reporting to the management committee and contributing to the success of the enterprise
